Our Story

Jessica Landreth and Liz Bradley met in the summer of 2014 and began doing research together in the fall at the University of Colorado. The original inspiration for the project was Irene Pepperburg's work with parrots. It is very difficult to track parrots because they remove most tracking devices. What if there were a way to identify parrots by their calls so their movements could be tracked without the need for tracking bracelets or vests? This was the inspiration for the project, which has evolved as different challenges and opportunities arose. We relied on the help of several wonderful people, who are listed in the Collaborators section.
